UPCOMING EVENTS!!

Saturday, May 17, at 11:30, authors Steve Elman and Alan Tolz will join us to sign copies of their book Burning Up the Air: Jerry Williams, Talk Radio, and the Life in Between . “No matter what you've heard about Jerry, you don't know the half of it. His former producers, Steve Elman and Alan Tolz, give you the reasons Jerry Williams was so influential, the ups and downs of his broadcasting career, and the fascinating details of his personal life. This is an inside view of the glories of radio and the pitfalls of fame.” From http://www.jerrywilliams.org/

Saturday, June 14 – A DOUBLE HEADER!

1:00am-Noon – meet local author Dan Robb, who has written Sloop – Restoring an Old Wooden Sailboat (available Tuesday, June 3). “Like ‘Zen and Art of Motorcycle Maintenance', Dan Robb's story of restoring a vintage sailboat resonates with greater themes: the importance of place, the value of things well made, and virtues of simplicity.” (from Simon & Schuster). Dan is also the author of Crossing the Water.

1:00pm-5:00pm join local author and blogger Andrew Buckley ( http://www.capecodtoday.com/blogs/index.php/Buckley ) for a discussion of his book Tours of Cape Cod (available Thursday, May 8). This book describes several walking, biking, and auto tours on the Cape , while incorporating beautiful color photographs.

FATHER'S DAY IS JUNE 15
Might we suggest:
"...there are so many things you can do now that you are a dad! And Things to do now that you're...a Dad offers 600 fun, practical and easy-to-do ideas of how you and your offspring can have the time of your lives."

In The Dads' Book for the Dad Who's Best at Everything, learn how to become "the coolest dad on the block by making bows and arrows, leading camping expeditions, and building super kites!"

"The interplay between father and son has long been one of golf 's most essential and enigmatic relationships. In Golf Dads, Curt Sampson brings to life ten remarkable stories of golfers, their fathers, and the game that brings them together."

"Ever wonder how to retrieve a sunken golf cart from a snake-infested lake? Or which club in your bag is best suited for combat against a horde of rats? If these and other sporting questions are gnawing at you, The Downhill Lie, Carl Hiaasen's hilarious confessional about returning to the fairways after a thirty-two-year absence, is definitely the book for you."

"Join Boston Red Sox mascot, Wally The Green Monster, as he takes a tour of Red Sox Nation."

In Deep Drive, read how, "in 2007, Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell triumphed over a lifetime of adversity when he led the world's most zealously followed baseball team to the promised land -- their second World Series title in four years. But there was much more to the story than what happened that October night."

"David Halberstam was a distinguished journalist and historian of American politics. He was also a sports writer. Everything They Had brings together for the first time his articles from newspapers and magazines, a wide-ranging collection edited by Glenn Stout, selected over the full scope of Halberstam's five decades as one of America's most honored journalists. These are dazzling portraits of some of the most compelling sports figures of our era, the superstars of popular sports like basketball, football, and baseball, but also fishing, soccer, and rowing, and the amateur athletes who play for the love of the game."

"Achieving your best body ever requires that two elements merge as one: solid training and good nutrition. This book provides the nutritional component of that muscle-building equation, offering the Men's Health take on food for fitness. Men's Health Muscle Chow gives you more than 150 simple recipes for delicious meals ranging from workout protein shakes to healthy dinners the whole family will enjoy."

"Remember the handcrafted mischief of the gangs on The Little Rascals , Gilligan's Island , and The Swiss Family Robinson ?
This cleverness is back in the old-fashioned fun of Treehouses and Other Cool Stuff You Can Build . Imagine building an old-fashioned go-cart, an A-frame treehouse, a portable lemonade stand, a seesaw, a scooter skateboard, a tub fiddle, and even the ultimate in entertainment-an erupting volcano."

With millions of copies sold, Chapman Piloting has been the leading reference for both power and sail boaters for nearly 100 years. Now this absolutely essential guide—large and beautifully produced, with 928 pages, 1,500 full-color illustrations and charts, and exploded views and cutaways—is thoroughly updated with all the latest information on federal laws, regulations, and fees.
